ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)

21st March 2016

The ability to use a computer effectively is an essential life skill. Computer skills enable people of all ages to understand and use technology to improve their personal and professional lives. Certified computer skills can help the holder’s professional life by making them more attractive to employers, while increasing their ability to communicate and access information and services in today's workplace. It is important that employees/potential employees have the ability to use technology efficiently and effectively. Employers expect job applicants to have computer skills prior to being hired, whereas employees with the right skills have the potential to progress further in their careers.

The European Computing Driving License prove to an employer or potential employer that you have the skills needed for today's workplace and demonstrate that you have achieved a high-quality and internationally recognised standard.

Students with ICT skills will be better prepared for life, work, and further learning together with fostering critical thinking and promoting positive attitudes to further lifelong learning.

With this in mind, I am delighted to tell you we are in a position to offer all year 11 students the opportunity to study this programme which will involve an intensive 3 day course, developing advanced IT skills in Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

Various sessions will be on offer during the Easter Holidays and/or normal school time.  Your child will receive a letter confirming when their sessions will take place.
