What will I study and how is the course organised?
This course offers students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and extend their skills within the catering industry. You will have the chance to develop your skills across a variety of practical based areas.
The course covers areas such as:
- The Food and Drink Industry
- Health, safety and hygiene
- Food preparation, cooking and presentation
- Nutrition and menu planning
- Costing and portion control
- Specialist equipment
How is the course assessed?
60% Controlled Assessment (Task 1 worth 20% and Task 2 worth 40%)
Why should I choose this course?
Careers in the food industry include chef, food scientist, production management, quality assurance management and marketing as well as more general opportunities in the leisure industry. A good GCSE qualification in this subject can lead to a wide variety of vocational further and higher education courses.
