School Closure - Year 11 Students

With effect from tomorrow, 20th March 2020, Year 11 students will no longer be required in school unless they are a child of a key worker. We understand that for some students this will be an upsetting time as they were not ready to cease their studies at Melior in this way. Please be assured that we will ensure that students have the opportunity to formally celebrate their Melior journey with their peers and will update you with more information once a decision has been made regarding this.

Tests and exams will not take place this summer. For our students, who have worked so hard to prepare for these exams, this may be upsetting, and we sympathise with them. At the same time, we understand the decision the government has made as we are reassured that children's grades in GCSEs and A levels will be awarded on the basis of moderated assessment, in conjunction with the exam boards and Ofqual. This means that the hard work students have done will be rewarded. It may not feel quite the same, and nor is it, but they will receive grades that will progress them to the next stage of their lives.

The date for this event is Friday, 3rd July and the reality is that the current situation is changing on a daily basis and we cannot make an informed decision at this time. We will, of course, continue to update you should this information change.
